I feel I've known you half my life, And I wish that that were true, But would things have turned out differently with you? So much has gone before us, So much is still to come. For all we know our story's just begun. Well, you make the world seem better, And you make my life seem better, And you make me want to be better too. I wish I'd met your mother, Before she passed away And I bet you think about her every day. I bet she was sweet & kind, And beautiful too, If she was even half as pretty as you. Well, you make the world seem better. Well, you make my life seem better. Well, you make me want to be better too. I wish that I'd been around, When you were young & scared, Just to let you know somebody cared. People come & people go, And friends just disappear, So I don't want to miss a second while you're here. Well, you make the world seem better, And you make my life seem better, Well, you make me want to be better too.

about

For my fourth album, I wanted to get back to my roots, explore some of the darker corners of my psyche, & chart my journey back towards the light. Some of the songs were over 10 years old at the time of recording; in fact, only one song had been written in 2014. Consequently, I could trace a line from the young twenty-something dealing with relationship issues & depression to the older (& if not wiser, certainly more grounded) man embracing a cautious optimism. As my mother would say, 'It doesn't do to dwell on things.' But it sure as heck feels good to work through them. Music does that for me. Looking back now, the main thing that stands out from this album is the immense amount of love, patience & kindness I am offering myself. My younger self would have appreciated that, even if he didn't know what the songs he was writing meant yet.
