I wrote ‘These Days’ back in 2011, during a challenging period of my life, but its stark honesty still shocks me. Although I have touched on similar themes in my lyrics before, it has still taken some time to gather the courage to officially release it. Music has long played a therapeutic role in my life: both as a coping mechanism through expressing my deepest emotions & fears, but also, by hearing other artists allow themselves to be vulnerable, I felt less alone. I offer up this song in the same spirit. I always try to inject a ray of hope into my tracks, & when I used to introduce this number in concert, I would ask the audience to imagine a heaven where a huge cinema screen plays back the happiest moments of their lives, & remind them that they can live those precious moments now. Let's not take this for granted. No matter how dark some days may seem, the sun will rise again on a brighter tomorrow.
lyrics
Lyrics:
These days, been feeling up & down.
These days, been walking round town
In a haze, these days.
These nights, I'm not sleeping too good
These nights, I've only been trying
To hold tight, these nights.
These days, I wonder who you're with.
These days, I'm jealous of the wind
On your face, these days.
Some moments we remember
For the rest of our lives.
Let's not take this for granted,
Let's do this thing right.
These nights, have never felt, have never felt so long.
These nights, I'm so scared of being alone
It frightens me, these nights.
Some moments we remember
For the rest of our lives.
Let's not take this for granted,
Let's do this thing right.
These days, I tie myself in knots.
These days, just hoping that I've got
What it takes, these days.
These days,
These days,
These days.
